The Go Colors Idea

When you’re around a baby, toddler or child, everyday sounds and annoyances are brought to your attention. I was never so aware of birds chirping, airplanes flying overhead or sirens within earshot as I was when I was with my sons. Kids are exploring, discovering and learning all the time. Their senses are so keen and their minds always engaged. I thought why hasn’t anyone made a book using objects that already catch kids’ attention as a teaching aid. As children play they’re very interactive, a toy car doesn’t just drive along in silence, oh, no! It goes “Bruumm” until it crashes with a “bcheu.” A baby doll doesn’t lie quietly during playtime, it cries with a “wahh” until it’s fed, burped, changed or rocked to sleep. Go Colors was written to be read out loud to children to keep their attention while their eyes absorb the bold, bright colors on the pages. And that is how I came to write Go Colors.
